Hi all,
On my Challenger G3 system with an IBOXV2 I have a problems with the GPS not comming on line when I power up the instruments. It does not comme on line one out of 3 time, if I cycle the power it does usually comme on line but in any case I am not able to see the satellite in the GPS window. No satellite position and no satelite signal level even if I have a GPS working condition. I have tried a generic GPS antenna with an SMC connector and it is the same thing sometime it come on and some time not, I can not see any satelite position and signal level either.
When I have a GPS fix it generally stay ON but sometime it goes Off and cycling the power turn it back ON.
Sometime on power up I have this message that appears shortly on the screen, ''No sensor data available Check iBOX data feed'' the GPS might come ON but it usually goes Off just few seconds later.
Any idea what cause this problem.
Thanks
Sylvain April
GPS satellite no show.

Re: GPS satellite no show.
I check the Version of the software in the IBOX and it read ''Version 1001'', the version that I did upload was supposed to be Version 5.
I dont see a 5 in the Version number ? What should be the number after a Version 5 upload.
Thanks
Sylvain
Re: GPS satellite no show.
5 in binary would be 101, now I have 1001 which is 9.
Re: GPS satellite no show.
The current fimware would report itself as 1006. The leading "1" means it is a V2 ibox.
Re: GPS satellite no show.
Hi All,
I did instal the latest firmware for my V2 I box, I am seeing 1006 as the latest version now. I also uploded the firmware for both Chalengers screen but I still have no show for the satellite and now occasionaly the second screen stay blank when I power up the system, sometimes both screen stay blank at start up. When both screen are OK I still loose the GPS often and I have this message ''No sensor data available Check iBOX data feed''
I tried to change the resistor value of both CAN bus terminaison but it did not change anything, same problem.
What should I try to fix this GPS problem.

Re: GPS satellite no show.
This has nothing to do with the CAN bus.
It's not receiving data from your iBOX that that goes via your LAN connection.
So check that.
Also when the messages comes up - does the LED on the iBOX continue flashing ? If not and stays lit then we can assume that your iBOX is freezing up for whatever reason - if it goes dark and stays that way I'd check power to the iBOX.

Re: GPS satellite no show.
Hi All,
I looked at the LAN connections between the Ibox and the IEFIS and all is tight look OK there. When I loose the GPS Fix I notice that a part of the screen is not drawn completely, when the GPS has a fix then the screen are drawn completely. The Ibox have it's LED blinking normally all the tine . 2 qwick blink and a pause 2 blink and a pause. Still when I have a GPS fix I dont see the signal and the position of the satellite, sometimes it show but it does not last, I can always see the digital number of satellites in the text, it will be 9 satelites and change to 8 and back to 9 and go to 11 but I dont see any graph of the signal or position.
For the screen that stay blank, I found the problem, it was my backup battery that was discharged down to 9V. Since my backup battery is charged with the main 12V supply through a rectifier, as soon as I power up the main bus and the IEFIS come on I always see the backup voltage above 12V , actually I see the charging voltage but the backup voltage the moment I turn the master on is may be 9V and and it is applied to the Chalenger backup power connection through a separate contact of the master toggle switch. The master toggle switch other contact is turning on the master solenoid near the main battery, so the main power is applied to the panels a fraction of a second after the low backup voltage of the discharged backup battery. After recharging the battery (7.5A AGM battery) I never had a screen blank again, I took the occasion to bring a connecting point accesible to verify the voltage of that battery and recharge it if necessary when the main is OFF.
