I have uploaded a new document explaining the process how to create a new internal SD card from scratch should you ever need to rebuild a system and don't have a backup (see the cloning and restore functions in the http://www.mglavionics.co.za/G4Boot.pdf document).
For this you download www.mglavionics.co.za/Data/SDCardSmall.img
This file is about 300Mbytes in size. It contains an initial Linux image including all that is needed to boot to a working EFIS. It is written to an SD card of at least 16GBytes in size using a disk imaging tool like Win32DiskImager or BalenaEtcher - both are free.
The created SDcard can then be inserted into the internal SD card holder on the G4 CPU card and the system can then be powered up.
On first run it will perform a series of configurations and tasks. The most important is to resize the disk partition that holds the root file system and then to resize that filesystem. It will be expanded to about 14GBytes regardless of actual size of the SD card (14GBytes is more than sufficient for all eventualities). Having a size slightly smaller than a 16GByte card aids in the systems cloning and restoration functions as it is not easy and sometimes impossible to reduce a file system size without data loss.
The process of resizing the file system can take a few minutes - during this time the text "Resizefs" is shown on the screen. Once done it will be replaced by the normal EFIS display.
You then need to install the terrain data files, maps, navigation database and whatever else you have for your system - perhaps screen files if you customized any.
The terrain and vector map files are not included in this SDCard image as this results in over 3GBytes of image size that makes it difficult to download.
The document describing the process is here: http://www.mglavionics.co.za/Docs/iEFIS ... image.pdf
